The next phase for the delivery of transformers to the Bramford site will be taking place later this month and early in November. The transformers arrive in port on 18th October and will move to Bramford on two days.
We understand that the original plan to move the transformer via old Bourne Bridge has been reviewed and superseded, and the transformer will instead be moved across the new Bourne Bridge. This will involve strengthening the structure, and the bridge will be closed northbound, leaving only one lane in each direction on the southbound section of road from the Oyster Reach roundabout to the roundabout by Bourne Garden Centre. This may cause congestion.
The timetable at present for the move looks like this:
Saturday 27th October – Wherstead Rd Northbound carriageway closed (Ostrich Creek Creek Bridge), Overbridge built
Sunday 28th October – Transformer 1 move to Burstall Substation, overbridge dismantled
and again on
Saturday 03rd November – Wherstead Rd Northbound carriageway closed (Ostrich Creek Creek Bridge), Overbridge built
Sunday 04th November – Transformer 2 move to Burstall Substation, overbridge dismantled and loaded out
